About Chef Reina

Chef Reina

Reina Hayasaka is a chef, recipe developer, and food stylist based in Japan.

After graduating from culinary school, she built her experience as a private chef, cooking instructor, and food consultant. In 2019, she began leading a culinary education program at Google Japan, where she had the opportunity to connect with people from many different countries and experience a wide range of food cultures.

Through that work, she met many people from around the world who had a deep interest in Japanese food. This inspired her to start Japanese Food at Home in 2023, an English-language YouTube channel sharing Japanese recipes and food culture.

Today, she works as a freelancer, developing recipes for restaurants and businesses, styling food for commercial visual content, and producing recipe videos for companies.

For Reina, cooking is not only about making delicious food. She believes in helping more people learn how to cook well, so they can bring more joy and smiles to the table.

Since I was a teenager, I have always loved cooking and baking. I spent countless hours reading cookbooks and watching cooking shows. Among them, what excited me the most was watching cooking shows from other countries.

Seeing unfamiliar ingredients turn into dishes I had never seen before, and watching how people enjoyed food in their everyday lives, made me feel as if my own world was expanding. Those experiences gave me so much energy, excitement, and inspiration.

Japanese Food at Home is my way of giving something back to all the people whose passion for food has enriched my life.

Through this site, I share Japanese food culture from Japan for people somewhere in the world who want to enjoy Japanese cooking, learn the stories behind it, and bring authentic Japanese flavors into their own homes.
